Inaugural Ceremony of Project “Reconnecting Community with Nature”

An inaugural ceremony of the MF Jebsen Nature Conservation Foundation’s latest educational project “Reconnecting Community with Nature” in collaboration with Marycove School has been successfully organized by PAM’s PR and marketing team.

The project was kicked off on 6th July 2020 at Marycove School in Hong Kong, with the presence of the Undersecretary for Commerce and Economic Development, JP Dr. Bernard Chan as the guest of honour. The MF Jebsen Nature Conservation Foundation had kindly donated a water dispenser to Marycove School prior to the ceremony. It is hoped that this would instill in the minds of our students that nature conservation starts from our everyday lives.

To raise students’ awareness on the importance of water and environmental-friendly  products, the guest of honour and the

representatives from Marycove School and MF Jebsen officiated the ceremony by each holding up an environmental-friendly water bottle and went on to water some plants in the school campus. A video-clip, produced by the students from Marycove School with the story of how they can help to protect the environment in their daily lives, was then shown to the guests. The ceremony ended with “Music Jamming” by the students, which was applauded by everyone in the playground.

Mr Clifford Wong, the CEO of MF Jebsen Group and MF Jebsen Nature Conservation Foundation, believes that in addition to financial support, active participation in the project is no less important. One key element in “Reconnecting Community with Nature” is the education on water conservation as water is precious to us and the whole ecosystem. He hopes to let students know that their efforts and habits can make a big difference in helping to protect the environment.

The project was also lauded by JP Dr. Bernard Chan, the Undersecretary for Commerce and Economic Development, who added that Hong Kong was among the few cities in the world that had about 40% of the total area endowed with lush green parks. “It goes without saying that each one of us has our part to play to preserve this invaluable asset for our future generations.” Dr. Chan said.

Ms Amy Lam Wing-sze, the Principal of Marycove School states that the school places great emphasis on all-round education. After her meeting with the representatives from MF Jebsen Group, she encouraged Choi Fan-yuk, a Form 4 student from Marycove School to take part in the “The day after tomorrow: Climate Change“ video-clip design competition organized by JCI Dragon. Fan-yuk agreed and attended all the 3 visits and workshops arranged by the organizing committee. Ms Lam stressed that this experience was a not-to-be-missed opportunity for Fan-yuk because she could meet people with different backgrounds and learn a great deal from them. The concerted efforts of Fan-yuk and the teachers involved demonstrate that Marycove School shares the same values with MF Jebsen Nature Conservation Foundation: the importance to care for the community, the environment and our future generations.
